Our homes should have the right humidity level. If not, it can cause different types of damage. If it’s too humid or if the air is too dry, it can cause to dry skin, respiratory problems, molds and condensation.
Our body as well as the home we live in depends a lot on the level of humidity for it to be healthy and strong. The humidity is a term that refers to the level of water vapor found in the air. If it warms up, the level of vapor drops. If it’s rainy, the humidity also increases. These two extremes can cause people to get sick or uncomfortable.
Winter season makes humidity go low in homes because of heating devices such as the home furnace to heat up the home. This means what we’d end up with dry skin, eyes and lips and it can be painful or uncomfortable. This may seem just a cause for discomfort to most of us but for kids, the elderly and those who are already sick, this could make them more prone to diseases such as asthma or bronchitis.
The home humidifier is used to bring the moisture level up to the right level. There are different kinds available such as one that uses a reservoir tank and warms it up to create vapor that is then dispersed through a fan system. The other uses a continuous dispersion of steam to the entire house.
Dehumidifiers work on the opposite of humidifiers. If the air is too saturated with vapor it also becomes quite uncomfortable. The air becomes sticky and it becomes more difficult to inhale the air. Air conditioner sucks out the water from air and lowers the moisture level effectively. If you don’t have an air conditioner then you can just use the exhaust fan from your bathroom or kitchen. By turning this on, the air moisture eventually reaches the normal level.
You can also use a dehumidifier. The best dehumidifier is all you need to remove the excess air moisture in areas of your house that just doesn’t seem to dry out such as your basement. Also, if someone in your home can’t stand or is allergic to molds then you’d need a dehumidifier. If one is allergic to molds, a dehumidifier must be present in his/her room and in other areas at home.
Humidifiers and dehumidifiers are sold in different sizes. You must first know which one to buy especially when it’s for health reasons then find the right size that will optimally improve the quality of air you breathe at home.
